Children return to school Mon 8th April

Science Skills Academy

During week 2 & week 3, we were investigating with paper helicopters or ‘spinners’. We wanted to find out whether the size of the blades made a difference to speed. We also found differences between card and paper spinners. Have a look at what we got up to…

What did we conclude? Which spinners were most effective and why?

Last week we moved on to explore magnets. For some of the younger children this was their first experience of magnetism and they were truly amazed at their observations. Other children began to follow various different lines of enquiry for example whether all metals are magnetic and which magnets were strongest.

What happened when you put the same poles together? How about when you put north and south together? Can you explain the meaning of attract and repel? Are all metals magnetic? How do you know?

Thanks for watching! See you next week!

we conclude by making and testing the airplanes, the next day we used real magnets.
the cardboard one was fast but the paper was slow because the paper does not have that much energy but the cardboard has loads of enegy.
