SMSC in Year 6 – tolerance and mutual respect

Over the next five weeks children across the school will be learning about British Values, how they can contribute to them and how they influence how we live.

This week in Year 6 we will be learning about human rights, why they are important and how they can be violated.
We will be learning about: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights & Human Rights Act 1998 and looking at the activity of campaigners such as Peter Tatchell.

Please be assured that we are only discussing facts with the children, not opinion, although we will be asking the children a lot what THEY think.

If you have any questions or concerns about this lesson, please come and see me. Julia Hurt
