Suspense builds in the search for a Golden Ticket

This morning Red 5 spent time developing their understanding of how author’s build suspense. We looked at examples of Roald Dahl building suspense in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and tried to incorporate this in our own work.

Plato and Bentham table worked together to create a drama that showed suspense.

  1. Enjoyed your depiction of the story, some really good acting and story telling. I think Grandpa would have been a little more excited, after all it could change their lives forever!

  2. One day charlie came back from school and said hi while everyone was asleep except grandpa joe.He said be quit because everyone was asleep and he had got a suprise for him he said take this money and by a chocolate Charlie said are you shure and grandpa joe said yes he brought a chocolate and there was no golden ticket.

  3. When Charlie ,who just came back from school, went inside the house only grandpa Joe was awake.”Charlie come take this money and buy some chocolate to share,”
“Quickly hurry before the rest wake up and see me awake!”

Charlie ran to the shops and said to the counter”One whipple scrumptious fudgemallow delight please.”Straight after he zoomed all the way to the cottage.”have you got it” asked Grandpa Joe

    Ibrahim and Khadijat

  4. The situation is quite low with the voice but very confident the way they were saying the words and they act it out very outstanding. They act it like they were in the actual scene but they could of done more actions to how the book actually goes if they can

  5. Razvan,Fatima

Razvan-We made a video about Charlie and the chocolate factory and in the video we created sunspense and tension together but a little bit eye contact.

Fatima-We all worked together and everybody took part and there was a narrator at the beginning

Razvan-We had a grandad jo and Charlie and narrator and a shop kipper!!!!!

  6. One day saga came home from school.
    “Come here saga”said grandpa Bob
    “What’s wrong” said saga
“Go to the shop and buy yourself a wonka bar”he said
“But… but I have no money” cried saga
    “Use mine”said saga
    “Why”
“Because I want you to have it”
    “Okay”
When saga got the chocolate bar did he get a golden ticket….

  7. Rayan was Charlie and and razvan was grandpa sharan at was wildly wonky Fatima was shopping kipper.
The sutions when Charlie went to the shop and he buoyed the bar of chocolate that grandpa told him and ran quickly to the house and when he opens the chocolate and there was no sine of the golden ticket anywhere and Charlie and grandpa burst in to laugh.

  8. We discussed use:to use ellipses and questions and short lines because we done this an we saw that short lines can be suspense. On Charlie and the chocolate factory it had short lines it said you open it grandpa. No you open it you paid for it.

The situation is quite tense beacause everyone is worrying. Everyone is thinking what is going to happen and how it will end. 😧😨 I know this because I can see there expression is telling us how they feel which is good. I think they are feeling
Excited and that feeling where there thinking am I going to get it or not not.

  10. Charlie’s mum is going to the shops and buying a six penny wonky Barr and when Charlie come back from school he goes strait to grandparents a soon as he goes to his goes to his grandparents room. His mum and dad came they said happy birthday to Charlie and said you Realy want that wonky bar, so they gave him the wonky bar as he opend it the suspense was in everyone. When he opend all of it sadly there wasn’t a golden ticket.
