This week in 2 Red …

What an exciting week we have had! At the beginning of the week, we discovered that an envelope had been left on Mrs Penavega’s desk that was addressed to us. How exciting! We opened it and below is a photo of what we found inside.

What could it be? We decided it was a clue related to our English learning and discovered we had been sent a photo of the front cover of our new book. After discussion, with our talk partners, we jotted down our questions and read them out to the rest of the class. Below are a few of them.

We found out that the title of our story was ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’ and after reading the blurb, used our predictions skills to predict what might happen next.

After sharing the story, we acted out various parts of it. Using our inference skills, we created freeze frames depicting how we thought the characters felt at different parts of it. Take a look at roleplay and freeze framing.

Which part of the story have you enjoyed so far? Which part have you disliked?

Predict what happens at the end.

Well done Year 2 Red I enjoyed listening to you because speaking and listening are two important skills you need. You all spoke so well and
clearly. I like this story too.
