Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, which begins with the sighting of the new moon. During this month, Muslims worldwide are obligated to abstain completely from food, drink and sexual relations from dawn to dusk, culminating in a release of restrictions at sunset. The fast, as per the teachings of Prophet Muhammadp,is broken with dates followed by a meal which varies from culture to culture.
Fasting is observed as an act of obedience to God, one for which He has reserved special blessings. The fasting person is rewarded manifold for all good deeds. In addition, according to a saying of Prophet Muhammadp, whoever fasts and prays during Ramadan with pure intentions will have their past sins forgiven.

Eid ul-Fitr is a very important festival in the Islamic calendar and was started by the Prophet Muhammad himself. It is also known as ‘The Feast of Breaking the Fast’ and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of Ramadan. Eid ul-Fitr takes place on the first day of the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and Muslims are not permitted to fast on that day.
Muslims are not only celebrating the end of fasting, but also thanking Allah for the Qur’an, which was first revealed towards the end of Ramadan, and for the strength Allah has given them to exercise self-control throughout the previous month of fasting. If necessary, they will ask Allah for forgiveness if they failed to keep the fast at any point.

    Dear Safa
Guess What Safa I’ve kept 4 fasts, the 1st 1 was very hard and I felt both hungry and tired, it made me feel lazy, no food or water all day long. But the rest of them weren’t to bad I think the more you keep your body gets used to not eating and it feels a lot easier. Yesterday was the 27th fast it is a very special holy night, it’s called Layla Tul Qadr the night of power, it’s the night our holy book the Quran was first sent down from Heaven to the world and also the night when the first verses were revealed to our prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. On this night we as Muslims believe that all goods deeds that you do such as pray and give charity your are rewarded by Allah Swt much more than on a normal night it’s described in the Quran as better then a thousand months, a night where Allah Swt is at his most merciful, one of the reasons why we fast is to remember that in this month the Quran was revealed.
But the best part for me is it will be Eid Ul Fitr in a few days, and that means lots of my favourite food 🥘 and desserts 🍨, yummy. My mum and dad and older members of my family will give me lots of money I’m gonna try and make £100, I bet I’ll get way more then you. I’ve got so new clothes to wear to, Ayesha got me an Gucci top, Armani jeans and Nike trainers.
The only bad thing because of all this Covid lockdown I won’t get to see you or all my other cousins, never mind next year hey. But I will still be able to play on PlayStation with Ismail.
Safah my mum told me that we keep fasts to share the pain and suffering that our brothers and sisters across the world feel everyday due to the lack of food and water, it helps us to appreciate what we have and respect each other. Because the Quran was sent down in this month we do a lot more praying and reading or try to at least this brings us closer to Allah Swt, we also ask for forgiveness and good health and give charity to the poor and Masjids. Eid marks the end of the fasts and we celebrate 🎉 with friends, family and neighbours, and because of donations that we have given to the poor people during Ramadan they can also afford to celebrate.
My dad says he’s gonna give a prize to the one has kept the most fasts out of us, no lying he’s gonna to ask your dad. Normally I would go to read Eid at the Masjid but this year that’s not gonna happen, I’ll ring you in the day on FaceTime and you can check out my new haircut and trendy clothes.
    Lots of love 💕

Ramadan is the holiest month for Muslims. Every year, Muslims around the world fast during daylight hours. Muslims fast in Ramadan from dawn until dusk. This includes abstaining from drinking and eating, Other acts of worship such as prayer, reading the Quran and charity are also encouraged during the holy month.
Muslims also believe the Quran was revealed in Ramadan.
During the holy month, Muslims wake up early to eat a pre-dawn meal called suhoor, and they open their fast with a meal referred to as iftar.
It is common for mosques to host large iftars, especially for the poor and needy. Nightly prayers called Tarawih are also held in mosques after Iftar.
Different cultures have different traditions during Ramadan, whether it is a special food they must cook, or eating iftar with the extended family. Islamic tenets such as generosity inspired most of these traditions, including sharing food and inviting guests over for Iftar.

Great information. Why do Muslims celebrate Eid?

      1. Aayan M.

Muslims believe that they are commanded by Allah, as mentioned in the Quran, to continue their fast until the last day of Ramadan and pay the Zakat and fitra before offering the Eid prayers.

To show commitment to Allah during Ramadan and Eid we do our 5 daily salah, we read the Qur’an and Qaidah (younger children)
We fast from sunrise to sunset. These times are also known as Sehri and Iftari.
Zakat is one of the pillars of Islam which is 2.5% of our savings. We give this to the poor people or charities during this blessed month.
We get good seeds and rewards from Allah to this.
We give the entire house an extra clean.
I need to go now .. Otherwise Mrs Khaliq will tell me to be quiet.
    Eid Mubarak to everyone! 😊.

    To Amanah,

I am writing this to explain about Ramadan. Islam is the second largest religion in the world and the followers are called Muslims. They believe in one god Allah which is the Arabic word for god. To understand Islam, you have to understand the five pillars. The pillars are Shahadah, Salah, Zakah, Sawn and Hajj and are the basis of Muslim life and they put their faith into action. During Ramadan Muslims fast for a month that means they are not allowed food during the day. They fast to forget about food and be more spiritual. It makes you think of other people that doesn’t have food. Years ago on Ramadan the Quran’s words were revealed by Allah. Ramadan isn’t all about fasting it is also about read the Quran, praying and giving up bad habits. At the end of Ramadan there is a big holy celebration called Eid. Muslims from all over the world get together to pray, party and eat.

    From your best friend Lillie.

    Hi 👋 Lawy
Guess what? It’s almost eid. First let me tell you some things about Ramadan. Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset for the whole month. That means we can’t eat or drink during that time. Right now it’s summer so the fast are super long, but in winter they are really short. We fast so we remember the poor and how they feel. In Ramadan we also worship Allah more. That means we pray more Quran, more tasbhee, more Salaah and lots of charity. By doing this it makes us more closer to Allah. Have you kept any Lawy? I only kept 1 but next year I’m going to try do some more 😀. I can’t wait for Eid. Eid is a celebration that Muslims celebrate after their fasting. Firstly the men all pray Eid salaah in the mosques but we can’t this year because of the corona virus 🙁. We dress up in new clothes and try to keep ourselves clean! We always go to our grandmas house with all our cousins. Our mums make delicious foods and also do lots of baking. Its like a massive party 🥳🥳. We even get bouncy castles. Do you want to come to my house for Eid?
    Eid Mubarak!
    Zakariya

    1. Mrs Khaliq

Eid at your house sounds fun! Great job Zak.

    2. Mrs A Patel

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims won’t eat or drink between dawn and sunset. This is called fasting. Fasting is important during Ramadan as it allows Muslims to devote themselves to their faith and come closer to Allah (God). All Muslims try to give up bad habits and must pray all five namaz, and attend evening prayer where the Quran is recited, this is called taraweeh prays.

Fasting is the one of the five pillar of Islam. The others are declaring of faith, zakat, prayer and haji (must do once in life time). Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, and in this month Allah revealed the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Some people are except from fasting like young children, pregnant women, elderly and the ill.

Eid ul fitr is celebrated at the end of the Ramadan. This begins after 29 or 30 days of Ramadan. It’s when the new sighting of the moon is seen in the sky. Muslims will not only celebrate the ending of the fast, but will also thank Allah for the help, strength and forgiveness of the last month, and bless us with goodness for year.

Men and boys will go to the mosque and perform eid pray and give money to charity to help the poor. After attending the mosque families will cook special meal and visit other family members and friends. Children and adults will receive money, clothes and toys.

Muslims show commitment by fasting from sunrise to sunset not having any food or drink for one whole month. We make extra effort praying more so we get more rewards. In the last 10 nights of Ramadan we spend the night awake by praying extra to get closer and gain even more reward from Allah (God) because these are special nights. My mum cooks lovely food ready for when they break their fasts and we also prepare some special foods for Eid as we celebrate the end of the fasting month.
