Good morning Year 5!
So, well done on completing your project! Your new tourist attraction for Stratford-Upon-Avon is a success, and that’s all down to the hard work you put in to research, plan, design and create it!
But, throughout this entire process, did any of you consider the possible impact on the animals? Well even if you did, a group of animal rights protesters are gathering outside your attraction! They are worried about your attraction treating animals badly, and taking advantage of innocent creatures who should be in their natural habitats instead of behind cages and glass.
Now, members of the media are arriving to interview the protesters and find out why they are outside your attraction. What do you think the protesters are saying about your attraction? Why are they there?
The media want to interview you about your attraction and the concerns the animal rights protesters have about it. How can you reassure the protesters and members of the public that your attraction is ethical towards the animals? What have you done to care for the animals in your attraction? Have you done anything to support animals elsewhere? E.g. charity contributions, breeding programmes etc.
Task 1: Plan your interview with the media. What are the key points you will say in response to the animal rights protesters’ concerns?
Task 2: Write your interview speech, including all the key points you planned to include. Remember a variety of vocabulary choices, interesting sentence openers, and be persuasive to win the protesters and public over. See a starting point idea below to get you thinking:

First, I would like to make it clear that, like the protesters here today, we as a team despise animal cruelty of any kind. This is why we….
