To solve word problems-Year 2

Today, we worked in mixed ability groups to solve word problems. Each time we read the problems and used the mathematical vocabulary to decide which calculation was needed to solve the problem. We wrote number sentences and drew jottings of tens and ones to find the answers.

1) Horrid Henry has 32 sweets. Moody Margaret takes 26. How many sweets does he have left?

2) Greasy Greta stole 12 treats on Monday and 27 on Tuesday. How many did she steal altogether?
3) Mum makes 26 buns. Horrid Henry steals 14. How many buns are left?
