1. Abubaker R.

Yaameen buys 3 litres of cola
1 litre of cola is £1
3 litre of cola is£3
and sells 100 ml for 25 pence then at the end of the day she gets £ 2.50 from one litre.
100ml=25p
1000ml=10 glass
10×25p=

• Abubaker R.

10×25=250p
£2.50
She made £2.50 for one liter
3×£2.50=£7.50
£7.50-£3=£4.50
Her profit is £4.50

• Ms Khan

Well explained Abubaker!

2. Archi P.

money paid = 3 bottles x £1 per bottle = £3.
Total amount of cola = 3 x 1L = 3L = 3000 ml
1 glass of cola = 100 ml
total number of glasses = 3000 ml /100 ml = 30
money earned = 25p x 30 glasses = 750p = £7.5
profit =money earned – money paid = £7.5 -£3 = £4.5

**************
Challenge
**************
5 Cans cost = 48p x 5 = 240p = £2.4
3 Bottles cost = £1.59 x 3 = £4.77
Cola cost = £4.77 + £2.4 = £7.17

Cola in cans = 330 ml x 5 = 1650 ml
Cola in Bottles = 1.25 L x 3 = 3.57 L = 3750 ml
All the cola = 3750 ml + 1650 ml = 5400 ml

1 glass of cola = 100 ml
total number of glasses = 5400 ml /100 ml = 54

money earned = 25p x 54 glasses = 1350p = £13.50

profit =money earned – money paid = £13.50 -£7.17 = £6.33

• Ms Khan

Great work Archi!
How did you work out 25p x 54?
Also we write 240p as £2.40.

Yasmin buys 3 bottle of cola 3×1=£3
She sells the cola in glasses 100 ml = 25p
1 litre cola= 10 glasses cola because 10×100=1000ml
10×25=250p
250×3=750p = £7.50
£7.50 – £3=£4.50
She does profit £4.50

• Ms Khan

Well done Xaxier!

4. Qasim K.

-Yasim buy 3 bottles of cola costing £1 each, so she spent £3 in total.
-She sells a cup of cola for 25p (100ml in cup and 1000ml in a litre) , 10 cups x 25p = £2.50 per bottle, 3 x £2.50 = £7.50.
– she makes £4.50 profit.

-The can cost 48p x 5 bought = £2.40
-The bottles cost £1.59 x 3 bought = £4.17 *

-can 330ml x 5 = 1650ml
-bottles 1.25 x 3 = 3750ml

So 1000ml = £2.50 x 5 (5000ml) = £12.50
And 400ml at 25p x 4 = £1.00

So she spend £7.17
Sold £13.50
Profit = £6.33.

• Ms Khan

Qasim you have shown a brilliant understanding of the problem. ☺
I have put a star next to the calculation you need to fix.
Keep up the good work!

• Qasim K.

Sorry Ms Khan l should of put £4.77, rather than £4.17.

• Ms Khan

Thank you for fixing your mistake!

5. Ridwan U.

3×1 =3

• Ms Khan

What other steps do you need to do?

6. James H.

25 times 30=£7.50p
I don’t know what the next one is

• Ms Khan

Hi James,
Step 1 – How much Yasmin spends?
Step 2 – You have done this. (How much Yasmin makes?)

7. Mishal N.

Bronze
Yasim buys three bottles of coco cola.
1 .3×1=£3.
She sells half a bottle which is 1000ml =25p.
Yasim buys 5 cans and 3 bottles .
2. Ten x onehundred=1000ml.
10×25=250
The profit makes four pound fifty.

• Ms Khan

Nearly there Mishaal.
She makes £2.50 from each bottle.
So your next step is £2.50 x 3.
Then your last step is to work out the profit.

8. Abdulah S.

25 times 30=£7.50p
£7.50-£=£4.50

• Ms Khan

Thank you for completing the task!

9. Abdulah S.

1litre x 3 =£3.
1litre= 1000m)
1000 times 3=3000ml
100ml Times 10=1000ml
100ml times 30=3000ml

• Ms Khan

A good start Abdulah, now work out how much profit Yasmin made.

10. Absi P.

Yasmin buys 3 bottle of cola 3×1=£3
She sells the cola in glasses 100 ml = 25p
1 litre cola= 10 glasses cola because 10×100=1000ml
10×25=250p
250×3=750p = £7.50
£7.50 – £3=£4.50
She does profit £4.50

• Ms Khan

Absi that is well explained! 🌟
