To create an Ahimsa poem
This half term, the children in Year 4 are studying Hinduism.
For your homework this week, we would like you to create an Ahimsa poem. Ahisma is one of the ideals of Hinduism, among other religions.
Ahimsa means ‘non injury’ and ‘non killing’. It means not avoiding the harm of any living creature by thoughts, deeds and words. This applies to not only humans, but all living creatures including animals, insects, birds etc.
Mahatma Ghandi used the principles of Ahimsa in his daily life, shared his ideas about Ahimsa with the world:

Create an Ahimsa acrostic poem poster. We would like you to then illustrate your poster using images of kindness/gentleness.

Challenge: Do you think that the philosophy of ahimsa is one you would like to practise in your daily life? If it is, in what small ways could you change so that you showed more respect for all living things?
