What do you know about 2D and 3D shapes?

Reception have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes…..

Hello Reception! Watch this fun and interactive video to familiarise yourself with 2D and 3D shapes.

Can you draw some 2D and 3D shapes?

Also, can you use the correct mathematical vocabulary e.g. Sides, Faces, Corners, Edges, Vertices…..

Here are some 3D shapes…can you recognise the shapes and talk about them with your parents/ adults?.

Look around your house and try to find an object that looks like a 3D shape…If you can, draw it on a piece of paper and write what it is using the correct mathematical vocabulary.

Have fun and Good luck :)

  1. 2D shapes are flat. 3D shapes are big,fat and solid. All the 2D shapes I know are triangle, square, circle and rectangle. All the 3D shapes I know are sphere, cylinder, cube, cone and pyramid.

  2. All about 2D and 3D Shapes:

Yes I know about the different type of 2D and 3D Shapes. An 2D Shape is Triangle, Square, Rectangle and Circle. They can be measured by how long and wide they are. An 3D Shape is an Cube, Cuboid, Sphere and Pyramid. They can be measured by how high, wide and deep they are.

  3. I know some of my 3D Shape and I can talk about it. Sphere can roll, cube, cylinder, con and pyramid can stand. Con has one point bit corner, cylinder has 2 faces circle.
