We had a fantastic ‘Wizard of Oz’ themed day today and the children all looked super in their costumes. We found out all about the author, L Frank Baum and enjoyed reading the book together. There were a lot of detailed character descriptions written and some very creative book cover designs. We even found out all about cyclones and created our own in a bottle, so that the children could see the twisting effect of the winds. The highlight of the day was creating yellow brick roads all around the school, estimating and checking the number of bricks that would be needed, and then estimating and measuring the ‘roads’ in metres and centimetres.
What was your favourite part of the day?
Which character would you choose to be in the story and why?
Can you remember how cyclones form?
