Y2 English – 06.07.20 – Writing rhyming poems

Hi Year 2,

Last week we read some rhyming poems and explored rhyming words. Today we are going to WRITE some poems of our own.

Remember: Rhyming words have the same sound at the end.
For example, cat & mat, snake & cake, frog & dog.

Here are some good examples…

CHALLENGE
Today, I would like you to write a rhyming poem. It might help you to think of two pairs of rhyming words first. (Look back at Friday’s work if this helps.)

Your poem must:
*Be about an animal
*Have 4 lines
*Have rhyming words at the end
