# Y3. 30.06.20. Maths Home Learning

Today, we will be learning about volume and capacity. (That means measurements of liquids)

We measure liquids by using containers with a scale (that means numbers on the side which show us how much is the container). Often these are found in kitchens to help when we are cooking. This container has 20ml in it because the liquid comes up to the 20.

In the next example, there are 65ml, because the middle little lines on the scale means 5 millilitres more than the previous multiple of 10 (the really tiny lines each show 1ml.)

BRONZE

What are the volumes of liquid here (every scale is in ml)

SILVER

GOLD I know the scale is quite tricky to see. The top writing on all three says: 1 litre. The writing half way up on all three says 500ml.

Double check the third one. It’s half way between 400ml and 600ml

The volume is the amount of space inside a solid figure and that capacity is how much liquid a 3dimension figure that can hold. The difference between the two is the weight we represent the measurements.

Nice one. Can you try bronze?
