Task 3 – Why do Coventry City Wear Sky Blue?

Read the information below and explain why Coventry wear sky blue as their home kit.

Task 4 – Where is your place of worship?

Below is a map of just a few of the places of worship in Coventry. Broad Heath is also marked to help you with locations. These places of worship are very important to people and their religion.

A place of worship is a specially designed structure or space where individuals or a group of people come to perform acts of devotion to their god or take part in religious study. A building constructed or used for this purpose is sometimes called a house of worship. Temples, churches, and mosques are examples of structures created for worship.

What place would you visit if you had the choice? It does not have to be a religious place as some people do not believe that they need to belong to a religion to be spiritual.

  2. Task 1
The castle on its back shows that the city was given royal permission to build. When the club changed its name from Singers FC to Coventry City they included the illustrious design as the centrepiece of the club’s crest. The elephant and castle were simply reversed out in white and worn in the late 1960s and early 70s, followed by the same icons depicted in a golden circle with the club name worn on the sky blue shirts between 1969 and 1972. More recently the elephant has been perched circus-like on a football. The symbols on the badge means much has been debated over the years about the origins of the Coventry City and civic badge of Coventry which comprises of an elephant, phoenix and eagle or griffin.

They wear Sky Blue because the city used to be a major producer of colour materials, especially sky blue.
