Children return to school Mon 8th April

Good morning, Year 6! We hope you have had a wonderful weekend and are ready for some fun learning this week. This week in PSHE, there will be 3 lessons supporting your transition to secondary school.

Today you will be thinking about some of the things that are different at secondary school from what you have been used to a primary school. First of all HOW ARE YOU FEELING? WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES & FEARS? It is a big move but with some preparation, you can manage it with confidence! Have a go at these activities:

Secondly we would like you to watch this video. What are the major changes? Do you have anything to add to your work above?

This next video takes you through a day in the life of a Year 7 child. How will this be different from primary school? Again, do you have anything to add to your previous work?

After this lesson, if you have any questions or worries, you can post them here on the blog or message the Y6upload email address and we will respond.

Have a great day!

I dont really have fears, I am prepared and ready for the next mission and the journey. I hope that we can do competitive sports every P.E lesson tho. Such as football, Badminton, And cricket as they are my favourite.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOPES & FEARS?
I hope to get no detentions. I worried that:
    – I will not keep up with my homework
    – I will get my timings incorrect
    – I will go to the wrong class at the wrong time.

I also hope that I make good friends.

    Task one:
    Fears:
    1. I’m not sure I will make friends. It’s quite hard to make friends. Especially because my best friend isn’t going to the same school as me.
    2. I’m scared the teachers will be really strict, but I know that’s how you learn and get better at what you’re studying.

    Hopes:
    1. I hope I can make friends who like books like me.
    2. I hope I can do really well in school and achieve my goals.

    How I feel:
I feel quite nervous and excited.

You are a lovely girl Amelia who is incredibly resilient, you will make friends I am sure!
I am positive you thought I was really strict when you first had me too but you learn to adapt to new teachers and they often push you to be the best you can be!

I am feeling confident but nervous. Many of my older friends from a different different schools are there. I do not know any teachers from the school or any staff. I would like to find myself some new friends as I will be unable to see most of my friends.

You are a funny and kind young man, I am sure that you will do well when making new friends. Do you find it intimidating not knowng any of the teachers?

I am feeling excited and hopeful for secondary school as there will be more opportunities and I will have a say on what I want to do.I am excited to make new friends as I have stayed with the same group of friends for most of primary school;going to a new school with different people will help me to find different friends. In year 7 there are a lot more children so there is more peer pressure. There is also a lot of responsibility that I have to take as opposed to primary school.
My hopes are that I do well and I get good grades so I can do well in the future. My fear is that I will not get good enough grades to be able to get in a good university.
