Year 2 Vocabulary through Reading

This afternoon, Year 2 have explored vocabulary through the text: The Robot and the Bluebird. We spent time up-leveling our word choices. The children came up with some fantastic words to describe the characters feelings such as: despondent, rejected, content and worthless. The Spiders and Ladybirds tables were able to practise the use of a Thesaurus, too. They did a great job!

The teachers were so impressed and we look forward to seeing these words in their writing.

Challenge: Write a sentence for both the Robot and the Bluebird to describe their feelings throughout the story. Can you use any of the words which we learnt today?

The robot was useless because he had no heat.
When the other robots put him where the other metal stuff were he felt lonely and sad.

Was the robot useless because he had no heart or did he FEEL useless?
I think he proved to be useful in thr end.
