Year 3 Maths Home Learning 07.01.21

Hi Year 3,

We are going to warm up our maths brains and learn our 8 times tables. Follow along with the video below.

Can you now answer the following questions?

8 X _ = 72

80= _ x 10

_ x 8 = 64

Today in maths we are going to make progress by using known multiplication facts to solve other multiplication problems.

Work your way through the problems. You can do them in any order that you like but make sure you write down which problem each answer is for.

Remember to explain your answer by using one of the sentence starters below.

Bronze- answer 1 problem.

Silver- answer 2 problems.

Gold- answer 3 problems.

    8×9=72
    80=8×10
    8×8=64
    problem 1
    I disagree because her problem was that she has done 60X40 instead of 6X4.
    Problem 2
    It is false because 320/80 is 4, not 40.
    Problem 3
    40+20+80+100 is 240 so she could use that.
    Said is right because 40 is 10 times bigger than 4 so 40X3 is 10X bigger than 4.

    8 × 9 = 80
    80 = 8 * 10
    8 * 8 = 64

    Problem 1: I noticed that there are 4 stars going down and there are 6 going across. Sharon is correct.

    Problem 2: I already know that if you multiply 80 by 4 the answer is 320. Which means if I divide 320 by 80 then the answer is 4. The answer is false.

    Problem 3: Chloe can use 5 boxes. The boxes that she can use are 100, 40, 60, 30, 10.
    This is because 100 + 40 + 60 + 30 + 10= 240

    Problem 4: I used the fact that 40 = 10 × 4 to confirm that the answer is ten times bigger.

      Problem 3: I decided to use 5 out of the 8 boxes. These are the boxes which contain 100, 40,60,30,10. This is because adding those numbers together = 240.

        Well done. Use 2 x 4 to work our 20 x 4

        1. Zahraa Y.

    Sharon is incorrect because the answer is 34.
    100+80+60=240
    Aalya done her homework by herself she is really good

  5. Ramarni J.

    8×9=72
    80=8×10
    8×8=64
    I don’t agree because each star is equal to 10 so the array is 40 by 60
    Boxes number 100+80+60=240
    He is correct because i already know that any number we times it with ten then we add zero to, and it will become ten times bigger.
