This week in maths we have been looking at multiplication using both arrays and a new written method called the grid method.
Your maths homework this week year 3 is to find any objects around your home, garden or around your local area that represents a multiplication array. To remind you of a multiplication array look at the picture below:
Once you have found the arrays in your house you need to work out the calculation shown and find the answer. To give you an idea of where you can find objects that look like multiplication arrays I have listed some I have found along with the calculation and answer.
Bathroom Tiles – 4 x 2 = 8
Patio slabs – 3 x 3 = 9
Keyboard buttons – 4 x 3 =12
What arrays can you find around your house, garden or area year 3? I look forward to seeing your responses, I want to see at least 3 arrays from everyone. A prize will be awarded to the year 3 pupil who has tried the hardest, it comes in the form of an array, and its edible!
I found a 3-D square it 3×3=9 and a book of star and they were in 9×6=54
1.I found my door was 3 down and 2 across and the answer was 6.
2. I found my sofa was 2 down and 2 across the answer was 4.
3.I found my fridge was 2 down and 1 across the answer was 2.
