Please make sure you complete all blogs set by the year 4 teachers from the 23rd March, thank you.
Today for health week we are going to look at the importance of looking after your teeth and how to create a fun tooth decay egg experiment in your very own homes.
Caring for your teeth is very important! You should clean your teeth twice a day in the morning and before you go to bed for 2 minutes. Use a floss and mouthwash to help keep teeth and gums free from plaque.
Plaque is formed by bacteria feeding on sugar left on the surface of teeth after eating. This is why it is important to have a healthy balanced diet and to avoid eating to many sugary foods. If you don’t brush your teeth you allow plaque to sit in your mouth, harden and become tartar, this will then develop to tooth decay or erosion of your enamel by bacteria.
You will all remember when we took part in an egg experiment in Science, which showed the effects tooth decay can have on our teeth when we eat to many sugary, sticky foods.
I thought It would be a great idea for you to try your own experiment at home! Follow the instructions below, good luck! I would love to see your results, so make sure you let me know by commenting and updating on the blog below.
Remember to ask an adult for permission and help.
More egg fun! Can you bounce the egg with no shell? Be careful! Make sure you ask an adult for permission before you do this!
