The writer has used ellipsis and short sentences which are writers tricks. The effect of using these writers tricks are to create suspension and to make the reader ask questions to their self. It also makes the reader think about what is going to happen next. An example of a writers trick is ‘The attempt is on.’ Another example is ‘There was complete silence on the ground…’ :)

  2. Gold Challenge:
The author has used a series of writer’s tricks in order to make the text exciting! Out of all the writer’s tricks, I have decided to talk about (1) the use of ellipsis and (2) the use of short sentences – both of which are used to create tension.

    Ellipsis
In the text, the writer has included ellipsis to create tension and suspense (therefore the text is made interesting for the reader). An example of this is when the race is just about to start: ” There was complete silence on the ground…”. This makes the reader want to think what will happen next and makes the writing much more exciting!

The writer has also used short sentences, which like ellipsis, are used to create tension. In the text, at the end of paragraph one, the writer has used a short sentence: “The attempt was on.” The writer does not reveal straight away what is happening and leaves the reader hanging and thinking about what is going to happen next -“is Sir Roger Bannister going to trip?”, “is he going to do something wrong at the time?”

    Thank You for reading! :D

  3. Dear miss Saunders and miss Frankish

I have chose to do the silver challenge….

The writer has used SPAG in this piece of writing.

The text is suggesting that that there was complete silence on the ground…a… false start.
This sentence uses short sentence for suspense and is also used to create tension this also makes the reader want to carry on reading. The writer has also used figurative language throught the text as a main feature.

The author has also used punctuation and has used alot of it.For eg: exclamation marks! and elllipsis …. .These are all used for getting the reader want to read on.Punctuation is a main part of his/her writing.

The text also says that i felt angry that moment, this tells us that the character is feeling determined to win the race and this is also telling us that this race was really important to him so he had alot of faith in himself. It also shows in the image that he is really focused and is going on without any interruptions.

The text also says that he shouted faster to himself this suggests that he worried at the time at that there is very little time left while he was racing.

BY Aaliahkhan i hope you enjoyed reding what i have wrote i also hope i succeed and win the prize.

  4. it is very good there is a lot of punctuation such as there was silence on the ground… so it creates tension and makes the reader want to know what happens next. So when it does … it makes it more interested.
The previous sentence included a short sentence this sentence puts suspense in the readers mind to question the reade, and it makes the reader want to read on.
The authors use of punctuation is, brilliant he has included a lot of punctuation, for example, ellipsis and a exclamation to interest the reader, and provoke the reader to carry on reading as it is interesting, and it is for the offers to read as the smaller ones may struggle as it includes high punctuation, and grammar inside it.

  6. Gold:
The author has used a wide range of writers tricks to make the text exciting these include ellipsis, different lengths of sentences, also the author added in sentences which made the reader think and ask questions about what will happen next? The main fact that made the text exciting was the build of suspense and the addition of punctuation to add tension. This is why the text became even more exciting.

  8. This text is a great piece of good tension writing also there loads of punctuation which creates tension and the reader want’s
to read more. The features of punctuation which creates tensions are ellipses and exclamation mark.ALSO QUESTION MARKS IN CASE YOU FORGET!!! Frigative writing is mostly the main feature of tension
it takes the readers to a journey. It makes loads of mystery features that the readers want to read about and sometimes feel exciting and entertain the reader so they feel puzzled. Also this is an auto biography.

(I felt angry that moment). This a really piece of writing because he want to win the race and be the first one. He cannot stop moving so that what explains he’s angry but luckily he didn’t got disqualified BUT HE WON THE RACE!!! This also means that the author had used similes and metaphors which is basically figurative language.
