Hello Gladiators! Over the past few weeks we have been reading The Wild Swans and The Nightingale by Hans-Christian Anderson.

By Thursday’s session, I would like you to complete the book ready for our comparison session. We will be thinking about the following:

The unfortunate outcast, cast out for their appearance and being different.

An inability to express oneself to those that you love.

Sacrificing your own happiness in the name of love.

The quest for freedom.

The difference between love of nature and love mechanical objects.

We will thinking more about the theme and setting of the story rather than the events.

Have you read any other fairy tales with a similar theme?

Have you ever watched a fairy tale film? If so, you can compare it to The Wild Swans.

I have watched an episode of Sofia the first when I was younger. It was where a witch turned a beautiful princess to an ugly beast and her Mother and Father didn’t know who she was and tried to kill her.
