Use RUCSAC to help you.

Read, Underline, Calculate, Solve, Answer, Check.

  1. A carpenter has a plank of wood 3 meters long. She cut it into 2 pieces. What length is each piece of wood? Write your answer in meters (m) and  centimeters (cm).
  2. A piece of wood is 5m long. A joiner cuts off 170cm. How long is the wood now? Write your answer in cm
  3. An athlete runs 3000m in a race. After 1.2km she stops. How far has she left to go?
  4. Nidhi cycled 2.5km. She stopped for a rest and a drink then cycled a further 5000m. How far did she cycle in total? Write  your answer in kilometers and meters.
  5. A jar has 2 litres (l) of jam. Mrs Tyrrell uses 547ml to make some jam tarts. How much is left? Write your answer in litres and millilitres.
  6. If I got up at 7:15 and left the house at 8:30, how long did it take me to get washed, dressed and have breakfast? Write your answer in hours and minutes.

Conversions:

1 kilometer (km) = 1000 meters (m)          1 meter = 100 centimeters                  1 litre (l) = 1000 millilitres (ml)             1 hour = 60 minutes

  1. 1)conversion:3m=3000cm Answer=1500
    2)conversion:5m=5000cm Answer= 3300
    3)conversion:3000m=3km 1.2km=1200m Answer=2800
    4)conversion:2.5km=2500 Answer=7.5km

  2. 1.conversion: 3m= 3000cm Answer = 1500cm/1.5 M
    2.conversion: 5m=5000cm Answer = 4830cm
    3. Conversion: 1.2 km = 1200m Answer = 3800m
    4. conversion: 2.5 km = 2500m Answer = 7500m
    5.conversion : 2 L = 2000ml Answer 1452

  3. 1. 3m = 300cm divided by 2 = 150
    2. 5m = 500cm – 170cm = 330
    3. 1.2km = 1200m 3000m – 1200m = 1800
    4. 2.5km = 2500m 5000m – 2500m = 2500
    5. 2 litres = 2000ml – 547ml = 1453

  4. 1.3 meters = 300m divided by 2 = 150cm
    2.5 meters =500cm -170cm = 330cm
    3.1.2km = 1200m 3000- 1200 = 1800
    4.2.5km = 2500m 5000 – 2500 = 2500
    5.2 litres = 2000m – 547m = 1453

  5. 1) The answers is 150 cm. I know this because as the carpenter has cut the plank of wood in to two pieces we need to work out what the convention of 3 meters, which is 300 cm. Then half the 300 cm then our answer is 150.

    2) The answer is 330 cm. I worked this out by converting the 5 metres which is
    500 cm .Then I took 170 away from 500 which left me with 330.

    3)The answer is 1800metres. I know this because I converted 1.2 km so it was 1200. After I found the difference which was 1800.

    4) The answer is 2500. I found the answer by converting 2.5 km into metres .Next I found the difference and discovered that nidhi cycled 2500 metres .

    5)The answer is 1453 letres because I found the difference between the two numbers.

    Alisha and Priya.😀😌👍🏻😜

  6. 1.300meters = 3meters she halves 300 which is 150m
    2.500m = 5m then a joiner cuts 170 of 500m – 170=330cm
    3.3000-1200=1800
    4.5000m-2500km= 2500

  7. 1)The answer is 150cm.I know this because the carpenter has a plank of 3 metres long.
    2)The answer is 320 because the man cuts it off.
    3)The answer is 1600
    4)The answer is 1600
    5)The answer is 1460.

  8. 1.3000m=3 kilometre
    150 centimetres and in metres 1500 metres.
    2.5 metres =500 centimetres
    500cm takeaway 170cm=330cm
    3.3000m=300cm
    3000m minus 1200m=1800m
    4.2.5km=2500m
    2500m +5000m=7500m

  9. 1.The length of both pieces of wood is 1m and a half. (150cm)
    2.5000cm – 170cm = 4830cm.
    3.1.2km + 1.8km = 3km.
    4.2500m + 5000m = 7500m. (7.5km)
    5.2000ml – 547 = 1456.
    6.It took 1 hour and 15 minutes to get washed, changed and have breakfast.
