Children return to school Mon 8th April

This week in Maths we have been learning about coordinates and today we played a game to embed the knowledge we have learnt.  Watch this video and explain how you find coordinates.

To find coordinates you need to do the Y axis first and the Y axis is across then you do the X axis which goes up e.g 7 which is from the Y axis and then 3 from the X axis

To find co-ordinates,you have to look at the X axis first and see what number that object is in.then do the same to the y axis then you’ll find what co-ordinate the object is in

First you start with the across line that is the Y axis then the next line we go up so that’s the X axis

To find coordinates you need to look at the x axis along the bottom line vertically and the y axis which goes horizantly. The rhyme to remember this is across the x axis up the y axis.First you would need to look at the x axis and then the y axis.So if you had the coordinate (7,6) then you would look at the x axis to find 7 and then go up to 6.

To find coordinates you have to look at the y axis first (the horizontal line),then you look at the x axis (the vertical
line). After that you have your coordinate. This is an example, if you have an object that is on 8 on the y axis then you would have the start of your coordinate but if your x axis is on 6 it would be (8,6).That is how to use coordinates. If the x axis is done first then you’ve got a totally different answer to what it should be.

To find coordinates you have to find the y axis first , to find the y axis you need to look at the bottom of the grid where there are numbers lined in order .Next you need to find the x axis this is at one of the sides of the grid there will also be numbers lined up .So for example if there was 6,4 you would have to look at the y axis and find the number 6 and then you would need to find the x axis and find the number 4 then you would go up from the number 6 in the y axis and go up to the number 4 on the x axis when you have done that ,you have plotted 6,4

To find coordinates you have to read the y axis first and then the x axis. The y axis is the bottom line and the x axis is the line which is horizontal. For example if the y and x axis go up to 10 and there was a square in between two numbers and the numbers were 10 and 9.The number along the bottom is the y axis and lets say 10 is the y axis so the number across the top is the x axis so 9 is the x axis so your finished coordinate for this example is 10,9.
