Year 5 Blue have had a super week investigating the political, historical and geographical landscape of the USA. They began the week by learning about the G7, why it exists and the country memberships. They then examined the political landscape of the USA. On day two, they debated the G7 priorities, including climate change and global warming. They made inferences about climate change from pieces of Art, and learnt about the effects on us and our communities. On day three, the children completed a historical timeline of the USA, examining a key historical figure. Many children had not heard of some of the key events, and have learnt lots! We also examined the geographical landscape of the USA, producing a physical map, and linking this to the work of Georgia O’Keeffe. On Thursday, they took part in a ‘USA Day’, where they were able to explore cultural aspects such as food, music and art.
Our week coincided with the COP 26 climate conference in Glasgow! See the link below to find out more!
