This half term we have started to investigate prime numbers. A prime number only has 2 factors, and these factors are always 1 and itself.

Bronze: identify all the prime numbers to 100

Silver: identify if the following numbers are prime and explain; 97, 32, 107, 241.

Gold: is the number 1 234 837 prime? Explain your reasons

    1234837 is a prime number because I done the chunking method and found out that it cannot be divided by all numbers except 1 and itself without leaving a remainder.

  2. 107 is a prime number because you can only divide it by 1 and 107.
    97 is a prime number because you can only divide it by 1 and 97.
    32 isn’t a prime number because when you divide it the factors are 16,8,4,2 and 1.
    241 is a prime number because you can only divide it by 1 and 241.

    You can know if the number is a prime number if you divide the numbers by 2,3,5,7 and 8.

  3. BRONZE CHALLENGE: the prime numbers to 100 are:

    2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,31,37,39,41,43,47,53,59,61,67,71,73,79,83,89 and 97

    SLIVER CHALLENGE:

    97 is a prime number because you can only divide it by
    1 and itself.
    32 is not a prime number because you can divide it by 2 and 1 and itself which means it has 3 factors.
    107 is a prime number because you can only divide it by 1 and itself and that means it has 2 factors.
    241 is a prime number because you can only divide it by 1 and itself and that means it has 2 factors,

  4. Bronze:2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29,31,37,41,43,47,53,59,61,67,71,73,79,83,89,97 these are all of the prime numbers which do not belong in any of the time tables .

    107 is a prime number because it can only be divided by 1 and itself.
    241 is a prime number because its only factors are 1 and itself.

    1 234 837 is prime because it can only be divided by itself or 1.I know this because I took on the challenge and saw if it can be divide or in the times table of 2 3 7 and 9 but it wasn’t/didn’t.
