Year 5 Maths Challenge – Summer 1 2022

Hello Year 5,

This half term we will be learning about our local area. Therefore, I am setting some mathematical challenges based on knowledge of our local area.

Bronze: How far away from Coventry is Stratford Upon Avon? If I went on a day trip to Stratford, how many miles will I travel that whole day? Explain how you know. (remember to show your methods)

Silver: How tall would the three spires of Coventry be if they were added together? (Holy Trinity. Christ Church and St Michaels). Would the spires combined be taller or shorter than the Empire State Building? Explain.

Gold: What percentage of Premiership football teams are from the West Midlands? Investigate and prove.
