Year 5: Wednesday 15th July: Home Learning: English

Good Morning year 5,
Today your task is to revise using some of the key Year 5 suffixes. Read though the pdf, and then complete the tasks below.
Have a go at Bronze, Silver or Gold. Then to the mini assessment at the end.

Website for help: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zhrrd2p This has lots of links. Use it to help you revise.

Remember when answering the questions, you don’t have to try and remember it yourself. Go back and look at the PDF again, use it to help you!

Bronze: Find the correct spellings for the words underlined in red

Silver: Create a column for the 3 suffixes we have learnt about. (Example at the bottom)
Then take these root words and add the correct suffix to it. Some may have more than 1 option.
Create a table that shows all the options.

Gold: Create your own question. Write a sentence with a root word and leave a blank gap or an underlined gap. Then give 3 choices of spelling using each of the suffixes, challenging the person answering to pick the correct one. You can make it even harder by picking a root word that works with 2 of the suffices so your reader needs to work out which meaning works correctly.

Post it on the blog and challenge your teacher!

ASSESSMENT: EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE A GO AT THIS!
