  1. Activity one.
    ~
    17 x 5 = 85
    85 – 5 = 80
    80/5 = 16
    ~
    21 x 4 = 84
    84 – 4 = 80
    80 / 4 = 20
    ~
    16 – 5 = 11
    11 – 5 = 6
    6 – 5 = 1
    ~
    20 – 4 = 16
    16 / 4 = 4
    4 / 4 = 1

  2. Task2:
    21×4=84.
    84–4=80.
    80 / 4 = 20.
    20–4=16.
    16 / 4 = 4.
    4 / 4 = 1.
    20 x 5 = 100.
    100 / 5 = 20.
    20 + 5 = 25.
    25 / 5 = 5.
    5 / 5 = 1.

  3. Activity 1
    1)13×4=52
    52-4=48
    48÷4=12
    12-4=8
    8-4=4
    4÷4=1

    2)9×4=36
    36÷4=9
    9-4=5
    5-4=1

The smallest number of keys I used was 4.
Yes, you can 5 to change 17 to 1. The answer is below.
    17-5=12
    12×5=60
    60÷5=55
    55-5=50
    50-5=10
    10÷2=5
    5÷5=1

    Activity 2
    1)1582÷7=226
    2)64395÷5=12879
    3)7524÷9=836
    4)33÷3=11
    5)384÷6=64
    6)608÷4=152
The strategy I used was trial and error.
I do not think there are any other ways to solving the problem.

  4. Activity 1:
    21 x 4 = 84
    84 – 4 = 80
    80 / 4 = 20
    20 – 4 = 16
    16 / 4 = 4
    4 / 4 = 1
    ————-
    20 x 5 = 100
    100 / 5 = 20
    20 + 5 = 25
    25 / 5 = 5
    5 / 5 = 1

  5. Task 1
    17 x 5 = 85
    85 – 5 = 80
    80/5 = 16
    16 – 5 = 11
    11 – 5 = 6
    6 – 5 = 1

    Task 2
    1582 / 7
    61395 / 5
    9594 / 9
    33 / 3
    384 / 6
    108 / 4
There are different solutions that could also work like 63 divided by 3 but I chose the above.
