Hi year 6,
Today we are going to be creating our very own cherry blossom artwork! In Japan cherry blossom is used as inspiration for many forms of art. I would like you to follow these simple steps (I will add a video too) to create your own artwork, please think of other materials you could use if you do not have art supplies. Maybe you could use a twig you found in your garden as the branch? Maybe you yourself could collect some blossom petals on your daily walk? Could you find some materials that could be collaged to create the blossom?
You have until monday at 5pm to send in a photograph of your work. PLEASE DO NOT RUSH THESE. Keep your artwork; it would be lovely to put on display if we are able to return to school at some point.
Step one: On a piece of paper (this could be in your book) you need to draw around a round object, this could be a bowl or a candle etc. It must be reasonably large as this will be your moon.
Step two: colour the paper around the circle, the whole page should be covered bar the circle. This will be your sky, I am going to paint mine, but you could use pencil crayons, chalk, a teabag or coffee! It must be light enough to add your drawing on top of.
Step 3: now you must draw the outline of the branch. It should begin at the corner of the page and reach to the moon. It is up to you how many strands that you have coming off it but I suggest at least 2. Colour this with a brown or black. If you want to be creative here is your chance! You could form your branch using twigs or tissue paper etc. Can you add texture?
Step four: now carefully decide where you are going to paint your blossom, I am going to paint mine, you could finger pant yours, stick down some paper etc. Remember we are looking for the iconic pink blossom!
If you chose to outline your image go ahead! These should all have a similar theme but will all be unique! I cannot wait to create a gallery of your amazing artwork!
