Today we were very lucky to have a visit from Mark Lowery, author of The Jam Doughnut That Ruined My Life and many other books. He spoke to us about his work and how important reading is for helping us learn, gain and achieve throughout our lives. He also explained how he writes and gave us some tips and tricks for writing brilliant stories, such as finding a good hook, creating, building and solving problems, and creating suspense. His talk was really exciting and engaging – just like his stories!
Next we had a workshop where we looked at how we can take a simple idea – like a jam doughnut – and make it creative, interesting and unique. We shared some ideas as a group then wrote our own stories.
