At Broad Heath, children
practise their reading skills by accessing a wide range of carefully selected, colour
banded texts partnered with books within the RWI phonics scheme. These books
match our RWI phonics scheme and encourage the children to read decodable and
simple whole sentences. As children practise their phonics and segmenting
/blending skills – they grow in confidence and fluency.

Children are encouraged to read for pleasure and to
regularly choose a book from our well stocked school library. If you would like
to support your child further at home, you can sign up to Oxford Reading Owl
where you will find lots of ebooks to explore and read.
