Monday:
To begin with, we read the storybook โPaddingtonโ as a class. What a lovely start to our project week. ๐
To start our project week learning all about Peru, 2W located Peru on a map. We found out the continent that Peru is in and the nearest ocean ๐.
We also found out which countries border Peru.
These countries are Ecuador ๐ช๐จ and Colombia ๐จ๐ด in the East near Brazil ๐ง๐ท. This is in the South East by Bolivia ๐ง๐ด, in the South by Chile ๐จ๐ฑ and in the South and West by the Pacific Ocean ๐.
We learnt to describe and compare human and physical features of Peru.
We learnt to understand the climate in Peru.
As we researched Peru further, we discovered many interesting facts such as the capital city, the population and languages spoken.
Tuesday:
We shared the story of โThe Stolen Smellโ as a class and understood the moral of the story. We then shared our likes and dislikes.
2W learnt to role play a traditional Peruvian tale. They worked in groups to act out scenes from the tale, using facial expressions and intonation to portray charactersโ feelings. We used the values of teamwork and communication.
We learnt basic Spanish greetings. 2W practiced greetings such as โHelloโ, โHow are you?โ and โWhat is your name?โ with their peers.
2W created their own panpipes by cutting and measuring straws to correct lengths. They experimented with this, placing them in ascending order. The skills they learnt were measuring and using mathematical language.
We explored traditional Peruvian fashion using a range of materials.
Wednesday:
We researched the Amazon Rainforest. Please see our information video.
2W created a piece of artwork using oil pastels and a range of techniques.
