1W Islamic Art DAY 1

Miss Smith

What a brilliant start to the week 1White!

We began with a show and tell session to teach our friends and teachers about Islam.

We then began to paint using the primary colours. We mixed them to create different shades and colours.

CHALLENGE: What are the primary colours? Which colours make orange? Which colours make purple? Which colours make green?

Next, we learnt about 3D shapes. CHALLENGE: Can you find any 3D shapes around your house?

Finally, we visited the mosque. It was such a fantastic experience and we were welcomed with open arms. We would like to thank the kind, friendly members of the community who made this happen. A huge thank you to Mr Mahmood and his dad for arranging our visit.

We were so lucky to receive a treat from the mosque and thoroughly enjoyed tucking into our snacks when we returned to school!

    The three primary colours are red, blue and yellow. Billal learned that the imam [speacker] sat on a big chair.

    I learned that there is a black cube that everyone faces to pray and that there is a prophet called Adam.

    I learnt that they keep Quran’s in the most and there is a lot of prayer mats. We cannot shout in the mosque and that there is a mosque timetable for when each prayer is. The people who go to the mosque are Muslims. Also there is Arabic writing in the mosque.

    Amina learnt how to pray and who sits on the chair, you have to take shoes of before entering mosque, you have to wear scarf or hat and you have to behave in the mosque. I had a fun day.
