This half-term we are learning about Forces. We now know that essentially a force is a push or pull. Today we learnt about Friction and explored the effects of friction using our investigative skills.

    1. I know now that friction can produce so much heat it can burn human skin.
    2. We used Newtons to measure the friction.
    3. A Newton-meter is a tool used to measure friction using Newtons. The more Newtons there are, the more friction is being produced.
    4. I enjoyed the rice experiment the most as it took a long time to find the answer on how to lift the empty bottle without touching it, but instead using rice and a pencil.

    Friction is a force between two surfaces that are sliding, or trying to slide, across each other.
    We measured in newton meters.
    A Newton meter is a piece of equipment that is used to measure the forces acting on an object.
    I enjoyed the newton meter experiment because it taught me more about friction.

    A Newton metre is a thing that you use to measure how much friction there is.
    I enjoyed the first experiment the most because it was so cool when you fully compact a rough item such as rice into a empty plastic bottle and put a smooth item such as a pencil in the plastic bottle it will eventually lift the bottle up as well.

    The experiment I enjoy the most is the one we’re we filled the bottle with rice and pulled it up with only one pencil., I liked this experiment the most because it was challenging to put the rice in the bottle all the way to the top and I learned more about how one pencil can pull a whole bottle full of rice.
