Chemical reaction in 5 Red.

Five Red were learning about chemical reactions today in science. To be able to test this reaction, they conducted an experiment called ‘The exploding bag experiment’ In this experiment they were investigating the chemical reaction between apple cider vinegar and bicarbonate soda.

The reaction between bicarbonate of soda produces carbon dioxide gas. Bubbles are seen when the reaction is occurring, and the bag inflates. The gas increases the pressure on the bag until eventually it bursts. Changing the size of the bag, the ratio of vinegar to bicarbonate and number of tissues can effect explosion time.
Take a look at their ‘Reactions’ below!

Can you think of another experiment that would cause this reaction?

    Coke and pills

  2. Haarun M.

    Soda and strawberry

  3. Hussein H.

Another reaction would be coke and mentos

  4. Mojirolaoluwa S.

I think another experiment that will be like that is coca-cola, mint , sugar and salt will make that reaction.

  5. Sayda A.

If you did mentos and coke it will explode

  6. Yahya K.

if you mix mentos with coke then it will cause it to explode as the acid is maaking contact with the alkaline.

  7. Sayda A.

    thank for put blog up

  8. Sayda A.

if you put coke in and baking soda it will explod also if you put baking soad in kecupt it will explod because when you put acid in alik it might expold and become a nertural

  9. Amina J.

Mentos and coke would also cause this reaction if you screw the lid quickly.

  10. Alzahra R.

If you mix baking soda with lemon juice (or vinegar), both substances quickly react to form bubbles. The bubbles are made of carbon dioxide gas
