Developing independence in Reception.

Dear Parents,

As many of you know we are working hard to develop independence in Reception. As a step to aid with this we are asking parents to drop their children off at the Reception gate in the mornings, where children can then walk across the Reception playground into their classroom by themselves. We know for some that this may be a little bit scary, but after trialling this today the children were happy to do this, and even felt a little bit more grown up!

From Monday 10th February, you will be met by a member of the Reception team at the Reception gate. Your child will then walk independently into their classrooms where they will be met by other Reception staff who will support them with their morning routines. If you have any messages for your child’s class teacher, please speak with the member of staff at the gate and they will share all information with relevant staff members.

Many thanks as always for your support,

Mrs Langley.
