Gangsta Granny Competition for Boys – Year 4, 5 & 6

Good morning all,

This message is to all the boys in Year 4, 5 and 6! (Sorry girls!)

There is an exciting challenge for you to complete. The winners will visit the Gangsta Granny Show at The Alexandra!

To enter the competition, you will need to read the book and complete at least one of the challenges below. Your behaviour and attitude needs to be great in and out of the class to support your entry.

Please complete at least one of the following challenges. Here are some tips:

  • Read the book!
  • Think about your layout and making it attractive
  • Include relevant facts and information
  • Include colour and pictures to make your work stand out

Here are the challenges:

  • Granny loves food made with cabbages. Can you design a menu with lots of cabbage-related foods (e.g. cabbage soup, cabbage cake)?
  • Imagine that you are Mr Parker. Create a set of Neighbourhood Watch rules to help others in the community stay safe from crime.
  • Look at granny’s recipe for cabbage cake. Can you create a recipe for something that tastes much nicer? etc.
  • Design a front cover for the book and add phrases to inspire the audience.
  • Write about one of the adventures that granny might have had when she was the most wanted jewel thief in the world.
  • Design an advert for one of Raj’s special offers.
  • How might granny be feeling when she hears Ben tell his parents that he doesn’t want to stay with her? Think of different words to describe her emotions. Draw a picture of how granny’s face might look at that time.
  • Ben realises that spending time with granny was the best part of his week? What is the best part of your week?

OR if you have another idea for an competition entry, then this is fine too. Just check with your teachers to see if is appropriate.

The closing date is Wednesday 6th October. If you need paper, your teachers will provide you with some.
