This week are continuing focusing on ‘Living and Growing’. This weeks focus is on Human Growth and understanding what we want to be when we are older.
We started this week by role playing what we wanted to be when we are older. We used dress up clothes and developed our own storylines and were encouraged to take part in different scenarios in their play. The children learnt to be fire fighters and played putting out the fires around the classroom.
The children were encouraged to use their communication skills and talk and write about what they wanted to be when they are older.
We learnt the difference between a baby and an adult. We described what the baby looked like compared to an adult. The children were given a doll to help comparison. We encouraged the children to use key words to describe the human growth cycle. For example ‘small and old’. We asked the children to order the flash cards in order from youngest to oldest.
The children were encouraged to help tidy up the classroom after snack time. This was sweeping, wiping the tables and washing up. We learnt that all jobs are just as important as others.
