Newspaper Reports

This term in English, Year 4 will be looking at newspaper reports based on World War II.


What is a newspaper report?
A newspaper report provides the reader with information on what is happening in the world. For example, it focuses on a specific event that has happened.

The features of a newspaper report are:

The name of the newspaper
Headline (also known as the title)
Subtitle
Reporter’s name
Introductory paragraph
Information on the event. This includes the 5 W’s (who, what, where, when and why).
Pictures and captions
Past tense
Direct speech
Formal language
Rhetorical question
Conclusion

    What is a newspaper report?
    Newspaper report means when you tell the reader what is happening, also newspaper report has to be interesting or other wise the reader wont be very interesting
    Can you explain the purpose of each of these features?
    you have to make the people ”attention” also newspaper report are important because you have to know what is happening in the world
    I can explain each of these features by using a heading or other wise the reader will be confuse what is about, also you have to tell the reporters name which is very important.
