Rivers are flowing bodys of water that drain the land. They have distinctive features like beds and banks. The river begins in upland areas and flow downhill (due to gravity).

The river still flows until it finally reaches another body of water. This is the mouth ( the end ) of the river. As the river goes on its journey ,it can meander- to bend- and will avoid large objects like hills and very big rock.

The river is home to a lot of types of wildlife including mallrds and carp. Carp are big fish which were introduced to the uk in the 13th or 14th centuries. They are specially adapted for life in the rivers and are an important part of the freshwater environment.
