Robotics Competition Opportunity

Dear Year 5,

The next set of VEX robotics competition rules are about to come out (April or May) and Broad Heath needs 3 teams (one from each class) to enter.

You will need to design and make a robot capable of competing in competitions across the country – I can’t tell you what the competition will be yet but will pop a link to last years at the bottom of this blog so that you can get the general idea.

This will involve planning, engineering, coding, driver skill and above all else: the ability to work in team.

You will also need to be available on particular evenings and some weekend days to attend the competitions themselves – I will drive you there in the mini bus so you don’t need to worry about transport.

This really is quite a big commitment – it takes a lot of effort and while it is great fun, it is also a challenge as your robot will take weeks to make and then weeks more to tweak into perfection.

How to enter?

If you want to be considered for the team then you need to write an application letter addressed to myself. You need to include:

Reasons for you being considered (skills)

A member of your class whom you feel you would work well with on the team.

Any addition considerations as to why you should be on the team.

Remember that this is a application and therefore you need to write it in the style of a persuasive letter.

Please submit your letter by Tuesday 19th March.
