Roots to Food

The children had a fantastic visit from a professional Chef from Roots to Food, Darren.

Darren spoke with the children about what food can keep us healthy and what foods we should have, but not have lots of.

The children surprised Darren with how much they knew about keeping healthy and their knowledge about food and food groups.

Darren set a challenge, two teams had to compete to create their own recipe and cook their recipe for staff and children to have a taste test! The ingredients provided by the kitchen were split amongst the teams.

The teams, and Darren had to come with a great recipe from the ingredients they had.

The green team, lead by Miss Millar, came up with a Coronation Quorn Chicken Curry dish.
The recipe can be downloaded here!

The orange team, lead by Miss Starkey, came up with a Pesto Salmon Fish Cake dish.
The recipe can be downloaded here!

The challenge was the make their dishes in 15 minutes. The teams’ food will be judged by a range of students and staff, the one with the best presentation and the best taste will win.
