To start our Science week off this term, 2W have learnt about eating and staying healthy and having a balanced diet.
So what is a balanced diet?
A balanced diet is about having foods from a range of food groups, ensuring we get enough of each food group in our diet. The different food groups are fruit and vegetables, carbohydrates, fats and sugars, protein and dairy.
As well as eating healthy and having a balanced diet, it is also important to stay hydrated, drinking plenty of water, get enough sleep and rest and move our bodies, exercising and staying fit. Children made their own healthy meal of carrot soup and explored the impact of food on exercise.

Children also explored how calcium helps keep teeth and bones healthy by placing an egg in milk and one in vinegar. Children were able to see how acidic foods corrode teeth and calcium helps make them strong.
