What an another amazing week we have had in The Hive. Firstly, i would like to say it was a pleasure to meet the parents of the children at The Hive on parents evening. This week we are continuing with our topic of ‘People Who Help Us’ and focused on fire safety and firefighters.
We learnt about the dangers of fire and what we would see if we saw a fire (smoke and flames). We watched a short video on Fire fighters and what they do. We explored their uniform and their equipment. We also looked at their vehicles to. The children were fascinated
Gross/fine Motor Skills – Miss Jephcott painted a fire on a tray and we worked together to put it out using water pistols.
Communication and language/EAD – We dressed up and role played being a firefighter and used the toy fire fighter trucks. We learnt and used the Makaton signs for look, wait and help.
Mark Making—We coloured and painted in different pictures, some of these were fires, fire engines and firemen
we were very lucky to also have real firefighters from Foleshill come to see the children on Tuesday! We were able to look at the equipment they use and the special clothes they wear, we even were lucky enough to be able to sit inside the fire engine. It was an amazing experience for the children 😁
Please see the amazing photos of our week 😎
