this Is Me – 6 White!

Wow, what a fantastic start to the year! The children in 6 White have returned refreshed and ready to learn (and taller!). We have been so impressed with the attitudes displayed towards learning, and how organised and prepared the children have been. This week, we have celebrated everything that makes us unique and special in the form of ‘This Is Me’ week. It has provided a brilliant opportunity for us to get to know the children, and it has been great to get some of their art work up on display. Have a look at some of the outcomes we have achieved! We are so proud of you 6 White, and know we will have an exceptional year.

Inspirational Maths!

The children have been challenged to complete a series of complex Maths challenges this week, which have required patience, tenacity and resilience. It was interesting to observe how the children tackled each area, and it was brilliant to see them linking their learning and working as a team. We discussed the idea of having ‘growth mindset’, and how this will benefit us in Year 6. In addition, we have started morning Maths tutorials in areas such as long division, and have been so impressed with the knowledge the children are already showcasing.

Hot and Cold Portraits!

The children produced self portraits this week using their knowledge of warm and cool colours. These looked particularly effective, with the children using a range of art mediums to colour in their final piece. Take a look in the Year 6 corridor and classroom to see these up on display!

This Is Me Portraits

Perspective and Opinion!

The children studied Pablo Picasso and Cubism as part of learning about individuality and expression. We challenged the children to sketch their own facial features, creating a collage of their faces in a Cubist fashion. They then manipulated soft wire with their fingers to create the continuous line outline of each feature. We are sure you’ll agree that these look really fantastic!
