This term we are focusing on ‘Living and Growing’. This week we learnt about the life cycle of a flower.
We began the week by getting creative and made flowers out of playdough, paint and drawing. We looked at different types of flowers and compared the differences. These were Sunflowers and Daffodils 🌼. We used magnifying glasses to look closer at the different parts of the flower.
During our carpet time, we watched a small story called ‘The Tiny Seed’ written by Eric Carle. This gave the children a small insight of where a flower starts from.
We headed into our construction area and designed our own miniature gardens out of stickle bricks.
After what we had learnt throughout the week within our learning, the children were able to complete a mini puzzle and make a flower with its different parts, (leaf, stem, roots and the flower).
To end this amazing week of learning, the children each planted their own sunflower seeds in a pot. The children have been taking good care of them and been watering them a little everyday. The children learnt the importance that all living things need water to stay healthy and grow.
