World book day/Hobbit day.

5 Blue have had a fantastic world book day! We explored the hobbit story by J.R.R Tolkien in great detail. The children really enjoyed the experience. When asked they all enjoyed the story, most enjoyed it more than they thought they would and the majority are excited to get the book out of the library.

We started the day by sharing our favourite books with each other it was amazing to see such a range of books to share and such a passion for reading from the children.

We then began our discussion on the hobbits character and appearance.

We then explored the plot of the story using a graphic novel and the film as a stimulus.

We then began to describe the key characters on our hobbit maps.

We acted out key scenes and had some fun.

We created riddles just like Golem!

Finally, we described the terrifying dragon Smaug!
