This term in Year 2, we have learnt about communities.
In our lesson today, Year 2 learnt to share their ideas about how to improve our community.
What is a community?
A community is a word used for a group of people who have things in common. This could be the same school, area, activities they take part in or background.
There are also different types of community. For example:
- Neighbourhood
- Place of worship
- Activities and clubs
- School
Why are communities important?
Communities are important as they help us to connect with other people. Being a part of a community involves using a range of our BH values such as teamwork, communication, kindness, empathy and respect.

Can you think of two different communities that you are a part of?
Why do you enjoy being a part of these communities and how does it make you feel?
