Year 3 Maths Challenge Autumn 2 2023

This term, we will be learning about addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Below are a range of puzzles to apply their previous learning and skills.

If you would usually complete silver challenges in class, then the expectation is to complete the Bronze and Silver challenge here. If you usually complete Gold, then you should do Bronze, SIlver and Gold for this reading challenge.

If you have any questions about the expectations, please see your class teacher.

Bronze

Find the secret path through the grid starting from the grey square. You need to find the route that makes the number circled at the bottom.


a) has been done for you. How to display this on the blog or in you homework book would be:
e.g. 2 + 10 + 9 = 21

Silver

Use the information from the grid to work out the value of the Star, Circle and Arrow.

    Freya is confused with bronze and silver task , please ca you show her how to do the above tasks?
    she has attempted the gold
    * 9×3=27 i used my 3 times table to get the anser
    *24÷4=6
    * 5×8=40 i did my 5 times table to get the answer
    *27÷3=9 used my 3 times table
    * 8×6=48 i got help with this one
    * 36÷4=9 i did my 4 times table to get the answer

    Bronze: some of this task is missing. There is no grey square.
    Silver: star: 12+40+16=68
    Circle: 30+100+40=170
    Arrow: 9+30+12=51
    Gold: 1: 9×3=27

    24 divided by 4 = 6
    They will need 6 taxis in total

    5 x 8 = 40
    Hanan scored 40 in total

    4) 27 total score, 3 judges
    27 divided by 3 = 9
    Each judge scored 9

    5) tickets cost £8, 6 people in total
    8 x 6 = 48
    They pay £48 altogether

    6) lemonade sold packs of 4, wants to buy 36 cans
    36 divided by 4 = 9
    Cherie needs to buy 9 packs
