In Summer 2 we are going to be sharing the stories of Paddington by the author Michael Bond. Please read the extract below from the story ‘A Bear called Paddington.’

    Battered – something that is old and not in a very good condition.
    Paddington’s suitcase was old and battered because it was used a lot.

    Emigrate – someone who leaves their own country to go and live in another one.
    Paddington emigrated from darkest Peru to come to live in London.

    Glimpse – to see something or look at someone for a very short time.
    Mrs Brown caught a glimpse of the writing on the label.
